Author Guidelines

Language and bilingual elements

REMAP publishes mainly in Spanish, but it receives and publishes original contributions in English. In all cases, articles must include title, abstract, and keywords in both Spanish and English. The journal seeks to keep its author guidelines and core editorial information available in both languages.

The abstract should clearly state the object of study, objectives, methodological approach, main findings, contribution, and originality of the article. It should not exceed 200 words. Up to five keywords should be provided in both languages, separated by semicolons.

Manuscript preparation

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official platform in an editable word-processor format, preferably .docx, or a compatible format. Manuscripts should follow these requirements:

1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman 12-point font, letter-size paper, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm, and left and right margins of 3 cm.

No paragraph indentation. Title and subtitles in bold, with subtitles numbered.

Direct quotations of fewer than forty words should be integrated into the paragraph and placed within quotation marks; longer quotations should appear as a separate indented block, single-spaced and without quotation marks.

Acronyms and abbreviations should be written in full the first time they appear, followed by the acronym or abbreviation in parentheses.

Footnotes should be explanatory only. They should not replace bibliographic references.

Graphs, tables, and figures should be included in the manuscript during submission and review. Once the work is accepted, they should be sent as separate files in their original format, numbered, and accompanied by their source. They should preferably be presented without color and, when produced in a spreadsheet, without borders.

Anonymization and author identification

To ensure double-blind review, the main manuscript should not contain names, acknowledgements, first-person self-citations, or metadata that may identify the authors. Author information should be provided in the submission metadata or in a separate title page, as allowed by the platform.

When registering the submission, each author must provide their full name, academic degree, contact e-mail, complete institutional affiliation without abbreviations, country, brief biographical note, and ORCID identifier. Authorship must correspond to substantive intellectual contributions, and the order of authorship must reflect the agreement of all authors.

Citations and references

REMAP follows the style of the American Psychological Association, seventh edition (APA 7). In-text citations should include author, year, and, where relevant, page number, for example (Sartori, 1995, pp. 58-61), or appear in narrative form: Sartori (1995). For two authors, use an ampersand in parenthetical citations, as in (García & Rivera, 2024), and “and” in narrative citations. For three or more authors, cite the first author followed by et al. The reference list should be arranged alphabetically at the end of the manuscript and include only works cited. When a source has a DOI, it should be included as a URL.

Common APA 7 reference examples

For generic examples above, authors should replace “https://example.org/” with the full URL of the source consulted when a URL is available.

For cases not covered in these notes, the journal follows the seventh edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.
